Le Petit Prince — a story that never gets old
There are some books that never really leave you. For me, Le Petit Prince is one of those stories. It’s the kind of book that changes a little each time you read it — depending on your age, your mood, or even the kind of day you’ve had.
When I first read it, I thought it was a children’s book about a little boy on an adventure. Now, reading it again as an adult — especially with my own child — I notice how much it’s about loneliness, imagination, and the strange beauty of growing up.
I like reading a few pages of it before bed. Sometimes I read it aloud, sometimes just quietly to myself. It’s one of those stories that feel both light and deep, poetic and philosophical, all at once.
Where to read it for free
If you’d like to read the full text in French, it’s available online for free thanks to the wonderful team at ebooksgratuits.com.
They have a clean version of the text, beautifully formatted and easy to read on a phone or tablet. It’s the original French edition, so perfect if you want to enjoy Saint-Exupéry’s language as he wrote it.
I keep returning to it, especially the part where the fox tells the Little Prince, “On ne voit bien qu’avec le cœur. L’essentiel est invisible pour les yeux.” It’s one of those sentences that stays with you for life.
